General solution of the problem of design of laminated plates possessing the given stiffnesses (Q5946069)

This paper discusses how to design laminated plates that possess a given stiffnesses. It is shown that this problem is related with the convex combination problem (CCP). By means of the CCP technique general solutions are constructed both for the design problem when materials with any elastic characteristics can be used, and for the design problem when only a finite set of materials can be used. The methods developed can be employed in a numerical manner for the corresponding design problems.
