Here, the authors prove the existence or nonexistence of positive solutions for the extensively studied first-order neutral differential equation \[ \bigl(x(t)-c(t) x(t-r)\bigr)'+p(t)x(t-\tau) -q(t)x(t-\sigma)=0 \] in some cases which have never been considered before.
