Integer multiflows and metric packings beyond the cut condition (Q5946745)

\textit{W. Schwärzler} and \textit{A. Sebő} [A generalized cut-condition for multiflows in matroids, Discrete Math. 113, No. 1-3, 207-221 (1993; Zbl 0784.05021)] generalized Seymour's cut-condition; see \textit{P. D. Seymour} [Eur. J. Comb. 2, 257-290 (1981; Zbl 0479.05023)]. In the paper under review, the authors exhibit the next level of necessary conditions and characterize, by excluded minors, the subclass of matroids where these conditions are also sufficient for multiflow feasibility. The metric packing problem, the polar of the multiflow problem, is studied as well and it is shown that, surprisingly, integer metric packing theorems and integer multiflow theorems have a different domain of validity.
