The post-Newtonian approximations for anisotropic homogeneous cosmologies are derived. The equations are well posed and are in the spirit of the Bianchi types of general relativity. The post-Newtonian theory allows the pressure to enter into the dynamics. In this way more general solutions are obtained than in the Newtonian case.
