The paper is devoted to 2D scalar wave propagation in a waveguide, where Dirichlet/Neumann boundary conditions are given on the boundaries. The Green function is constructed in the form of a contour integral, and the short-wave asymptotic representation of the solution is investigated. The exact solution is represented as the sum of geometro-optical waves, normal waves, and the residual which is expressed by a simple formula.
