An introduction to methods of effective field theory (EFT) will be presented. Such techniques are becoming widespread in particle/nuclear physics and allow a systematic and rigorous expansion of low energy amplitudes. Applications to both particle and nuclear physics will be presented, including some with astrophysical relevance.
