A few aspects of the explicitly covariant light-front dynamics are considered. The emphasis is put on both extra components in the wave functions and contact terms appearing in the formalism. Their contributions to the deuteron electromagnetic properties are presented. It is in particular shown how they allow one to recover contributions attributed to vacuum excitation in other approaches.
