This erratum concerns the author's earlier article [Invent. Math. 136, 233--271 (1999; Zbl 0965.14024)] where the author constructed equivariant compactifications \(\overline\Omega^{r,n}\) of the quotients PGL\(^{n+1}_r/\text{PGL}_r\), \(n\geq 1\). This erratum mentions a gap in this construction. The author explains under which conditions the theorems stay correct.
