The author discusses the relationship between the action properties of arbitrary complex algebraic groups and those of reductive groups. In the paper it is proved that the essential dimension of an arbitrary group coincides with that of its Levi subgroup. It is shown that the group of space motions of \(\mathbb C^n\) is stable rational.
