The dynamics of a generic discontinuous system near an (isolated) hyperbolic singular point of the sliding field is considered. New methods for the study of the local geometry of that system are developed. For the description of the geometry of the system, the total return mapping is reduced to simply the convenient form near the singular point of the sliding field. This result allows to describe the behavior of the system exactly and explicitly.
