New anisotropic a priori estimates (Q5952127)

The authors carry out some new anisotropic a priori estimates for the interpolation error on linear finite elements which allow a full control on the element size and ratio. They essentially use spectral properties of the invertible affine mapping, which applies the reference element of the mesh onto a generic element. Some numerical experiments which confirm the teoretical results are also reported.
