The authors examine the properties of a quantum mechanics constructed over the algebra of quaternions instead of ordinary complex numbers. The consideration is given at the level of unbroken \(SU(2)\) gauge symmetry. A general quaternionic phase expression is derived from formal properties of the quaternionic algebra.
