The authors consider a nonempty set \(E\) and introduce the concepts of halfordered set, halfordered permutation set, and halfordered chain structure. These are generalizations of the concepts ``order'' and ``half-order'' in geometry introduced by \textit{E. Sperner} [Math. Ann. 121, 107-130 (1949; Zbl 0032.17801)]. These concepts are then studied by means of their automorphism groups.
