Completeness is proved for the set of eigenvectors of a self-adjoint eigenvalue problem. The problem is nonlinear in the spectral parameter (SP), and its matrix is a continuous and monotone function of the SP; moreover, the values of this function at the endpoints of the range of the SP are, respectively, nonpositive definite and nonnegative definite matrices.
