The author proposes a simple and reasonably efficient implicit iterative algorithm for solving block tridiagonal systems arising in numerical approximations of two-dimensional elliptic equations. It is characterized by the use of a matrix technique for determining the solution in striplike grid subdomains (block), which takes into account the transverse difference flux across the conjugation line between the block and the computational domain.
