Strong ellipticity of the hybrid formulation of the electromagnetic diffraction problem (Q5954389)

The paper is devoted to an exterior problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction by an arbitrary system of dielectric and perfectly conducting bodies. For the system of Maxwell's equations, the problem is not elliptic. An equivalent formulation of the original boundary value problem is presented in the form of a system of Helmholtz equations. The system is proved to be elliptic.
