Preface of the editors on the paper ``Quadratic fields over polynomial domains of Galois fields and their zeta functions'' by Emil Artin (Q5954679)

From the preface (reviewer's translation and recasting): ``On behalf of the anniversary of Emil Artin (* March 3, 1898; reviewer's remark), his letters, unpublished work (Nachlaß) etc., was handed over by his son, Michael Artin, to the Fachbereich Mathematik of the University of Hamburg; among these, a manuscript from 1921, never published up to now''. See ``Emil Artins unveröffentlichte Verallgemeinerung seiner Dissertation'' [ Mitt. Math. Ges. Hamb. 19, 173--194 (2000; Zbl 0985.01007)], in which \textit{P. Ullrich} describes, why that manuscript has not been published before''. The reviewer appreciates very much, that the publishing board of the Abhandlungen decided, to publish that work now. As the reader will conclude from the corresponding review of the paper, that work excels in clarity, presentation, and importance, let alone that it is written eighty-two years ago.
