A new technique is proposed for solving both the principal spectral problem for a low-dimensial system of multigroup diffusion equations describing the steady state of a nuclear reactor and the generalized spectral problem. The technique relies on a smoothing block-relaxation iterative method and a convergence-improving multigrid algorithm.
