Multi-scale analysis of bubbly flows (Q5956827)

A mathematical model is presented to describe the flow of contaminated liquid near spherical or deformable bubbles. The Marangoni effect is taken into account. The authors employ a numerical method to solve the corresponding boundary value problem, and in the case of spherical bubbles perform direct numerical simulation of rising motion of spherical bubbles in spatially periodical domain. The problem of drag coefficient of bubbles is discussed on the basis of numerical data.
