The stream function coordinate Euler formulation for one-dimensional unsteady compressible flow with strong discontinuities has been developed. A conservative system of three equations has been formulated and solved numerically using Godunov's scheme in the computational plane. To illustrate the applicability of the method, a finite length shock tube flow problem has been simulated.
