The authors propose efficient numerical algorithms for computing verified and narrow error bounds with the property that a slightly perturbed system of nonlinear equations is proved to have a double root within the computed bounds. The methods are applied to univariate and multivariate polynomials and to eigenvalue problems. A number of numerical examples is presented. Computational results for systems of various dimensions demonstrate the performance of the methods.
