The authors propose an adaptive scaling parameter in guaranteeing the descent condition and improving the numerical stability for the spectral conjugate gradient method in solving the unconstrained optimization problem. The global convergence of the methods for both convex and nonconvex objective functions is established. The effective of the proposed methods are illustrated by some numerical experiments on a set of \(63\) unconstrained optimization test problems.
