In a recent paper [\textit{C. Ferreira} and \textit{J. L. López}, J. Approximation Theory 111, 298--314 (2001; Zbl 0983.41020)], the author and collaborators have obtained an asymptotic expansion of the double gamma function with error bounds. In this short note, using a recent result of \textit{H. L. Pedersen} [On the remainder in an asymptotic expansion of the double gamma function, manuscript], the author obtains a simpler and more accurate error bound than that obtained in [Ferreira and López, loc. cit.].
