This paper deals with a nonlinear periodic problem driven by the scalar \(p\)-Laplacian, with a nonlinearity which asymptotically lies between the second and third eigenvalues of the differential operator. Assuming the potential to be negative near the origin, the authors prove the existence of at least three nontrivial periodic solutions. The proof uses variational methods, with rather complicated technicalities.
