The author considers the equations of gas dynamics with a relaxing equation of state. Equivalence transformations for these equations are found. Then the author constructs the conditions for the existence of a symmetry operator on the arbitrary elements of the considered system. Finally, some special cases of these conditions are studied and the corresponding Lie algebras of symmetries are constructed.
