The critical curvature degree of an algebraic variety (Q6051122)

The paper deals with offset hypersurface to a given variety, i.e. the set of points of a given distance to the variety. While constructing the offset hypersurface, the most interesting are the points of maximal curvature. These are studied using so-called curvature corresponding variety as critical curvature points. The author illustarates the computation on several examples. At the end some geometric aspects of the problem are studied.
