The boundedness character of positive solutions of the following two fourth-order differential equations, \[ X_{n+1}=A+\frac{X^{r+1}_n}{X^r_{n-3}}\,,\quad n\in\mathbb N_0,\qquad X_{n+1}=\max\left\{A,\frac{X^{r+1}_n}{X^r_{n-3}}\right\},\quad n\in\mathbb N_0 \] is analyzed. Here the parameters \(n\) and \(r\) are positive numbers.
