The author introduces the notion of spherical mean transform for (commuting) operator pairs and establishes some permanence properties of such a transform. He also obtains a formula of the spherical mean transform of any \(2\)-variable weighted shift, and provides sufficient conditions on the weights of a \(2\)-variable weighted shift to ensure that its spherical mean transform is hyponormal.
