The influence of a complex valued potential on the convergence rate of expansions in root functions of a formal differential operator is investigated. The obtained estimations for the convergence rate depend on the modulus of continuity of the considered potential. It is pointed out that these estimates can be improved on absolutely continuous functions spaces.
