On the extension-closed property for the subcategory \(\mathrm{Tr}(\Omega^2 \pmod{- A})\) (Q6090813)

Let \(A\) be a finite-dimensional algebra over a field. A module \(X\) over \(A\) is called a second syzygy module if it fits into an exact sequence \(0\rightarrow X\rightarrow P_1\rightarrow P_0\) for some finitely generated projective \(A\)-modules \(P_0\) and \(P_1\). The authors prove that the smallest subcategory of the module category of \(A\) containing all images of second syzygy modules under the Auslander-Bridger transpose is not, in general, closed under extensions. Therefore, the authors provide a negative answer to a question posed by \textit{I. Reiten} in [CMS Conf. Proc. 19, 247--259 (1996; Zbl 0955.16009)].
