The paper successfully confirms the conjecture posed by \textit{Y. Yang} and \textit{D. Wang} [IAENG, Int. J. Appl. Math. 49, No. 3, 274--280 (2019; Zbl 1512.05087)] regarding the minimum Kirchhoff index of phenylene chains. Their prior work on characterizing hexagonal chains with minimal Kirchhoff indices and the maximum and minimum indices of pentagonal chains provides a strong background. The authors' results strengthen the existing body of research in the field.
