The authors study axially symmetric solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded cylinder. Under homogeneous boundary conditions for the velocity and the angular component of the vorticity, the existence of global-in-time regular solutions is proved when the initial swirl \(rv_\varphi\) is small. A new weighted estimate for the stream function is used.
