This note describes the location of the spectrum and pseudospectrum of a class of linear nonselfadjoint pseudodifferential operators modeled on perturbations of elliptic selfadjoint pseudodifferential operators. It refines earlier results of Keldysh and their extensions by Gohberg and Krein.
