By definition every polygon of unit diameter is small. The isodiametric problem consists in determining tha maximum area of an \(n\)-gon. This problem is unsolved if \(n\) is even and \(n\ge 14\). The authors improve the available lower bound in the unsolved case and conctruct the small polygon of maximum area for \(n=6, 8, 10, 12\).
