Coordinate \(B_{\varphi}\)-splines are a non-polynomial generalization of \(B\)-splines previously introduced by the author by means of a determining vector-valued function \(\varphi\). This paper gives a new representation of third order coordinate \(B_{\varphi}\)-splines that leads to elegant asymptotic formulas under grid refinement.
