The paper deals with some generalizations of Hadamard's formula to some problems as Neumann and mixed boundary conditions, multiple eigenvalues and second order variations. Moreover, the author presents an analytical framework for deriving general formulas of the Hadamard type. The analysis find some interesting applications in shape optimization and in particular the equilibrium and stable shapes of electron bubbles are discussed.
