The author gives an asymptotic expansion for a sequence \((s(n))\) of certain sums as \(n\to\infty\). He obtains a solution of a problem proposed in the Research Group in Mathematical Inequalities and Applications mailing list. Also, a result on a combinatorial problem is given.
