The authors extend a theorem due to \textit{O. J. Shmidt} [``Über Gruppen, deren sämtliche Teiler spezielle Gruppen sind'', Rec. Math. Moscou 31, 366-372 (1924; JFM 50.0076.04 and JFM 55.0672.04)] and investigate finite groups in which all non-normal maximal subgroups are nilpotent. The results are all interesting.
