The paper nullifies the claim in a theorem, which has been published in \textit{J. K. Kohli} and \textit{S. Vashistha} [Acta Math. Hung. 115, No.~1--2, 37--47 (2007; Zbl 1164.47057)] and which is the probabilistic version of a theorem of Pant. That the result in the theorem is incorrect has been corroborated by some examples. Finally, to obtain the result in the above-mentioned incorrect theorem, the author gives the conditions that have to be added to the hypotheses of the theorem.
