A balancing approach to the realization of systems with internal passivity and reciprocity (Q626820)

The authors propose an approach to the construction of jointly internally reciprocal and passive realizations of positive real and sign symmetric matrices. It is shown that positive real balanced realizations are internally passive and there exists some positive real balanced realization that is internally reciprocal. The authors derive a novel method that delivers jointly internally passive and reciprocal realization. They show that positive real balanced truncation not only preserves passivity but also reciprocity of the system.
