The authors present symplectic structure-preserving integrators for the two dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii (G-P) equation for a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). First they propose some sympletic integrators for the two dimensional G-P equations, including the symplectic midpoint rule and the splitting symplectic integrators. The conservative properties and error estimations are given. Numerical results are given to illustrate the theory discussed, and future work is discussed.
