The author considers planar autonomous systems \[ \dot x= P(x,y),\quad\dot y= Q(x,y)\tag{\(\ast\)} \] which are equivalent to systems of the type \[ \dot x= y,\qquad\dot y=-g(x)- y\phi(x,y). \] Applying results of \textit{M. Sabatini} [Chaos Solitons Fractals 43, No. 1--12, 25--30 (2010; Zbl 1227.34033)], he derives conditions on \(P\) and \(Q\) such that \((\ast)\) hast at most one limit cycle and that \((\ast)\) has exactly one limit cycle.
