The authors study finite element methods for semilinear elliptic problems with smooth interfaces. They first introduce the finite element discretization and some known results for elliptic interface problem. Later they present some new optimal a priori error estimates for linear elliptic interface problem. Convergence of finite element solution of semilinear elliptic interface problem and a computational example for elliptic interface problem are presented.
