Optimal pointwise error estimates for piecewise functions expanded with Laguerre polynomials (Q6489260)

The authors derive pointwise error estimates for piecewise functions expanded in the form of Laguerre polynomial series. They also establish the pointwise error formula of the Laguerre orthogonal projection. Some examples to exhibit local superconvergence behaviour at points far from singularities are also shared.
