This paper is devoted to the study of Shil'nikov saddle-focus homoclinic orbits in four and higher dimensions. The authors give equivalent definitions in terms of subspaces associated with the variational equation along the orbit. By using Rodriguez's construction of three-dimensional system with Shil'nikov saddle-focus homoclinic orbits, higher-dimensional systems with such orbits are constructed.
