The authors consider scattering of SH waves by a piezomagnetic cylinder lying in an infinite elastic medium. The effect of piezoelastic material is expressed in terms of magnetic field and compressible stress. The governing equations are obtained in polar coordinates. The incident field is assumed to be time-harmonic and expressed in terms of \(n\)th order Bessel function of the first kind. The scattered field and magnetic field are written as series in Bessel functions and negative powers of radius, respectively. The results are compared with those for circular cavity by collapsing cylinder into circular cavity. The dynamic stress on surface, magnetic potential and induction strength are found to increase with the magnetic field. High-frequency incidence is more sensitive to magnetic fields. These effects have been graphically presented.
