In this paper, an optimal control problem is studied governed by a class of quasi-linear non-well-defined p-Laplacian elliptic equations. This kind of problems arises from the studies of nonlinear phenomena in non-Newtonian fluids, reaction-diffusion problems, non-linear elasticity, torsional creep problem, glaciology, radiation of heat, etc. Because the nonlinear term is non-monotone, the state equation may admit several solutions for one control and hence is non-well-posed. In order to deal with the singularity/degeneracy and multiplicity, penalization and approximation problems are introduced. A simple example is presented to show a usage of the main result.
