Given a smooth curve \(\gamma\subset\mathbb{R}^2\) without inflexions and a point \(p\in\mathbb{R}^2\), the authors define the affine pedal and the affine contrapedal of \(\gamma\) with respect to \(p\). They relate these curves with the equi-affine parallel curves, the equi-affine evolute and the equi-affine involutes of \(\gamma\). The singularities of the affine pedal and contrapedal curves are studied in detail, and the type of cusps that appear are determined. In the final section, the authors provide several beautiful examples of singular and non-singular affine pedals and contrapedals.
