Primes and conductors of characters (Q6558480)

Let \(G\) be a finite \(p\)-solvable group, \(P\) a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\) and let \(\chi \in \mathrm{Irr}(G)\) be an irreducible complex character of degree not divisible by \(p\). In this paper, the authors prove that the field of values \(\mathbb{Q}(\chi_{P})\) of the restriction of \(\chi\) to \(P\) has index not divisible by \(p\) in the cyclotomic extension \(\mathbb{Q}(e^{2\pi i/p^{f}})\), where \(p^{f}\) is the \(p\)-part of the conductor of \(\chi\).
