Footnotes to a footnote of a paper by Fano (Q6561424)

The author of this article recovers a footnote from an article by \textit{G. Fano} [Atti Accad. Italia, Mem. Cl. Sci. fis. mat. natur. (7) 8, 23--64 (1937; Zbl 0015.37201)], to demonstrate in a direct way that one of the two Fano varieties of dimension 3 and degree 72 in \(\mathbb{P}^38\) is isomorphic to the weighted projective space \(\mathbb{P}(1,1,4,6)\).\N\NThe proof and geometric construction follow the classical taste and style of projective geometry, so many maps and geometric constructions are explicit and fairly easy to follow.
